Dale and Angie Bailey built their home 26 years ago and raised their children within its walls. When it came time for change, they chose not to tear it down, but to thoughtfully rework it. The renovation focused on the first floor, especially the spaces they use every day. And at the heart of it all was the living room, lovingly called “the pit.”

Reworking the Heart of the Home
The goal was clear – make the space more functional, more cohesive, and more inviting. New flooring brightened the room. The layout was refined to create defined lounge and puzzle areas. But what truly grounded the design was the addition of a new fireplace framed by the Bowen Mantel.
Set against vertical wood paneling, the mantel brings architectural clarity to the space. Its classic curves soften the clean lines of the room, while its subtle picture-frame profile adds contemporary structure. The result is balanced and intentional, elegant without feeling formal.

At six inches deep, the Bowen Mantel offers both visual presence and everyday functionality. Its handcrafted concrete finish introduces texture and depth, complementing the warm wood tones and neutral palette layered throughout the home.
The fireplace now anchors the room naturally. It draws the eye without overpowering the space. It creates warmth, visually and physically, all while inviting people to gather together.
