A Stunning White Fireplace Surround for the Perfect Family Room
We’re excited to have our BOWEN Fireplace Surround featured in a beautiful home renovation project in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The Bowen Mantel takes center stage in this open living area, becoming the heart of the home where the family gathers, relaxes, and spends quality time together.
From New York to Georgia
Whitney and Adam, along with their 3-year-old daughter, were living in a small apartment in New York. But as their family grew, so did their need for more space. Determined to find a home that could accommodate their lifestyle, they made the move to Georgia, searching for a house that offered a spacious living area, an expansive eat-in kitchen, a luxurious primary bath, and separate spaces for their home offices—since both work remotely.
However, finding a house that ticked all their boxes proved to be a challenge. So, rather than settle for something less than perfect, they purchased a home in a great location and embarked on a renovation to create the dream space they envisioned.
PROJECT DETAILS
Opening up the spaces
The original layout of the family room separated the space from the dining area and kitchen, creating a somewhat closed-off environment. During the renovation, walls were removed, and the dining table was relocated to the center of the family room, where the walls once stood. This clever change created an open flow between the kitchen and family room, making communication and family time easier and more natural.
To complement the home’s modern aesthetic, the designers selected our Bowen mantel in a sleek Simply White color with a Smoothcast finish. To add depth and drama, they incorporated a reeded black panel behind the mantel, which not only highlights the fireplace but also enhances the room’s overall design.
Kitchen TRANSFORMATION
Before
While the house had plenty of space, the kitchen felt cramped and a bit closed off from the rest of the home.
After
By tearing down the walls separating the kitchen and the family room, the space opened up, creating a seamless flow and making the entire area feel much more expansive and welcoming.

The original wooden fireplace mantel felt outdated, making the family room look dull and lacking a true focal point.
After
With the addition of the Bowen mantel, featuring its elegant curves and modern picture frame design, the fireplace became a statement piece. This transformation not only draws attention to the fireplace but also creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for family gatherings.
